GEELONG national netball star Madison Browne is looking forward to donning her running shoes for charity this month.
Browne will compete in Run Geelong on November 20 to help raise money for a refurbishment of Geelong Hospital’s children’s ward.
Browne said personal experience had made her deeply aware of the children’s ward’s importance to the community.
“I have a close family friend who’s in there at the moment and I’ve been going to see her a lot,” she said.
“The staff working in there are amazing.”
Browne said she was excited to have the opportunity to run around Skilled Stadium and through parts of Geelong she had never seen.
Cotton On Foundation Manager Tim Diamond said Run Geelong was a unique event donating 100 per cent of proceeds to charity.
“The children’s ward is a huge benefit for local families,” he said.
“In the past children needing treatment for cancer would have to travel to Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne but now they can receive treatment close to home in dedicated oncology rooms.”
Mr Diamond said registrations for Run Geelong were available at www.rungeelong.com.au until 5pm on November 18.
