A bus rolled and crashed into a tree killing a 38-year-old man on the Great Ocean Road, near Apollo Bay, Monday afternoon.
Police said the bus, towing a trailer and carrying 30 people, was travelling west when it left the road and rolled just after 5pm.
The man died at the scene while a woman in her thirties was trapped beneath the bus before being freed.
Paramedics treated her for pelvis injuries and an air ambulance helicopter flew her to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition.
An ambulance took the bus driver, a 49-year-old man, to Apollo Bay Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Paramedics treated the remaining 27 occupants for minor injuries and initially took them to Apollo Bay Hospital.
They later transferred six of the patients to Geelong hospital, all in a stable condition.
The Great Ocean Road remained closed Tuesday morning as Major Collision Investigation unit detectives returned to the scene to continue their investigation.

The crash brings the Victorian road toll to 68, compared to 80 at the same time last year.
