RIPPLESIDE’S Sarah Cielesh saw an opportunity when she discovered few students attempted silver-smithing for prestigious VCE exhibition Top Designs,
The Geelong College year 12 student thought “something unique might get in”, so she entered her wing-inspired silver jewellery set with gems.
Sarah was ecstatic when Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority named her among the top 108 of 1900 entrants, earning her a place in the exhibition.
“I ran around the house so excited because I never thought I could get in,” she said.
Sarah hopes the recognition work would give an edge to her application for industrial design studies at RMIT University.
“The course I want to get into is very competitive – hopefully this will give me a foot in the door.”
Other local students to feature in Top Designs 2013 were Ocean Grove’s Fraser McCallum, Ceres’ Daniel Jirik, Bannockburn’s Jordan Nowell, East Geelong’s Natasha James, Highton’s Yvette Wouters and Winchelsea’s Lachlan Brown.
