Property flat-lines
Home sales have flat-lined in Geelong as values rise at a similar rate to inflation, according to a real estate data monitor.
RP Data said 6372 dwellings sold in the 12 months to May compared to 6352 for the same period in 2014, with house values up 3.3 per cent and units .9 per cent.

Cricket win
International cricket stars will compete under lights at Geelong’s Simonds Stadium this summer, state Sports Minister John Eren has announced.
Melbourne’s Stars and Renegades would clash in a Big Bash pre-season game on 11 December before the West Indies played a Victorian representative side in a two-day match the next weekend, Mr Eren said.

Man wanted
A man in his 50s walked away with a “large amount of cash” after allegedly stealing a handbag from behind an internet café counter at Belmont, according to police.
Police released an image of a man (pictured) who they want to question over the alleged theft on 29 August, describing him as a Caucasian with short grey hair.

Park works
A ‘demonstration project’ will provide the first example of how council’s City in a Park strategy will revitalise central Geelong, Mayor Darryn Lyons has announced.
He said works beginning next week would deliver a “positive feel” to part of Myers St, with new street furniture, lighting, trees and other features.

Coast targeted
Thieves have targeted Torquay and Jan Juc in a two-day outbreak of burglaries and thefts.
Police reported items stolen from homes, shops and cars on Sunday night and Monday, including the theft of a vehicle from Jan Juc and glass doors smashed to gain entry to adjoining Torquay businesses.
