“LIVING books” will take centre stage at Torquay’s Froth and Bubble Festival next weekend, according to organisers.
Debbie Meaney said bookworms would borrow conversations rather than books at the festival’s Human Library.
“The program sees people sit down one-on-one with one of our living library people and talk about anything they like,” Ms Meaney said.
“It gives people the opportunity to quiz some great authors on how they got to where they are, even the story line of their books, all for free.”
Ms Meaney said authors Hans Colla, Claire Halliday and Jan McNess were thrilled to be involved in the initiative.
The festival would also take on a “family focus” this year, she said.
“Some people might think a literary festival is more for the older generations, so we wanted to make the festival accessible to everybody this year. It’s not just authors talking and workshops, there are prizes, storytelling and music as well.”
Ms Meaney said the festival would also feature workshops with children’s author Andy Griffiths and Deltora Quest illustrator Marc McBride, interactive plays and poems, screen acting, editing workshops and a second-hand book stall.
Torquay Froth and Bubble Literary Festival runs from June 18 to 19.
