Treats, toys at Players Bistro

KEEPING children happy while dining out is rarely easy but Geelong Football Club’s Players Bistro has the solution with its new children’s playroom and super-value kids’ meals.
Colour and flavour underpin the bistro’s latest addition to family dining with the bright toy and activities area – behind glass so parents can see their charges at all times – and tempting tastebud treats.
Trucks, desks, building blocks, dolls, cars, animals and more – in bright yellows, hot pinks and loud reds and limes – will keep youngsters safely occupied so parents can kick back and enjoy Players Bistro’s extensive menu of house-made dishes designed by executive chef Pascal Meyes.
When the hungries hit the littlies, Players Bistro has a ripper under-12 small people’s menu, offering a main meal, soft drink and dessert – all for just $10.
Mains include chicken nuggets and chips, fish and chips, Hawaiian pizza and spaghetti bolognese. Desserts include vanilla ice-cream with toppings and frog in a pond.
Grown-ups have plenty of offer with sandwiches and wraps for lunch right through to crowd-pleaser steaks, seafood and parmigianas.
Customers can choose from three toppings to spice up their parmis: Hawaiian with ham, pineapple, roasted capsicum and home-made barbecue sauce; prosciutto with tomato salsa, mozzarella and basil; and traditional.
The bistro offers a large gluten-free and vegetarian menu, featuring a popular char-grilled polenta and vegetable stack.
All meals are made in-house with fresh local produce, supporting producers such as Bannockburn Free Range, Zeally Bay Sourdough and Lance, Lizzy and Leo’s local mussels, which can be enjoyed on their own or as a vital part in the bistro’s famous seafood chowder.
Cats hospitality also has four function spaces, some of which can cater for up to 400 guests for a cocktail-style dinner.
It’s ideal for occasions such as weddings, work conferences and birthdays.
The bistro is open from 9am Monday to Friday and from 10am weekends, with lunch from 11.30am to 2.30pm and dinner 5.30 to 8.30pm. Coffee and cake are available.
Clubs Cats and Players Bistro are open every day except Christmas at Simonds Stadium, phone 5225 2355.
