Board doomed

Drinks limit
A two-drink limit will come into force at Geelong Chamber of Commerce’s monthly After 5 networking events.
The chamber said the policy reflected its “duty of care” to members and would also help keep costs down for After 5 hosts.

Two Geelong drug and alcohol treatment services have “funding certainty for another year”, Corangamite MP Sarah Henderson has announced.
She said the Salvation Army services would each receive $100,000 for programs helping women and children with alcohol and drug “issues”.

Scrubber risk
Alcoa’s for-sale Anglesea power station would have to spend $175 million to meet demands for installation of scrubbers, Surf Coast Shire’s council heard this week.
A report to council said closure of the coal-fired plant, which employs 80 staff, would be economically damaging to the shire.
