Trio set to shine

QUEENSLAND trio The Lamplights will brighten up Geelong’s Pakington Street this month when they roll into town for the city’s 29th annual Pako Festa.
Promoters described The Lamplights as playing an eclectic mix of music with a “laid back, innovative and folky sound”.
“With a wide repertoire, the trio’s sound is best described as an organic blend of funk and folk served with a side of blues, sprinkled liberally with jazz and dished up with a whole lot of heart.”
Ryan Gittoes features on vocals alongside reigning Australian Fingerstyle Guitar Champion Ashley Perrow.
The group will perform on the festa’s Barking Dog stage at 4pm on February 26. The trio will later close the festival on a Westpac Diversity stage at 7.15pm.
Pako Festa, Australia’s largest free celebration of cultural diversity, has been luring increasingly large crowds to Pakington Street since 1983.
Last year about 100,000 patrons attended the one-day event.
