A PROPOSED housing development threatens the “viability” of a Corio abattoir employing more than 200 staff, according to Geelong’s council.
Councillors this week voted to fight the 83-lot subdivison next to MC Herd Abattoir at a state planning tribunal hearing.
Cr Rod Macdonald said the proposal had “significant potential for land-use conflicts” between subdivision residents and MC Herd.
