CRUEL thieves have robbed a disabled man of his dream holiday, according to his distraught mother.
Newtown’s Jan Korolew said the thieves used the family’s garage sale to case out their property before returning to steal her son’s motorbike.
Ms Korolew said her son had planning to sell the bike for an overseas holiday.
“It’s very upsetting. Michael has a mental disability and was looking forward to selling the bike because he hasn’t used it much.
“He was looking to go on a holiday to New Zealand and for him that was a big deal.”
Ms Korolew said Michael had barely ridden the yellow and black PitPro 125R.
She wanted the theft to be a warning to other families planning their own garage sales.
“The bike had been on display all day then my husband woke the next morning to discover it was stolen.
“You get so disappointed when people do crummy things like this.
“Michael’s pretty complacent but as a parent you have to be protective, your caring role extends into their adulthood.
“You just can’t believe the dishonesty of people, it’s so disheartening.”
Michael said he hoped the thieves would return his bike with an apology.
“It made me upset and angry and I was pretty shocked because I didn’t think they’d do that.
“I hope the police find it and return it because it’s a pretty low act. Without it I won’t be able to go on a holiday and I can’t remember the last one I went on.”
Geelong police confirmed officers were investigating the alleged theft.
