PICTURES and picnic rugs will combine for a family evening at Curlewis Golf Club next weekend.
Club manager Mathew Lough-nane said he would bring old-time fun back into fashion with an outdoor cinema night.
Loughnane said the idea to host an outdoor cinema evening in Geelong came from a trip to the Northern Hemisphere.
“While I was over in America earlier in the year I saw quite a few outdoor cinema events and they were huge over there,” he said.
“I thought it would be a great idea to have an outdoor cinema with Santa and entertainment where our members and people from the public could come and have fun.”
Loughnane said the venue could cater for a few hundred movie buffs.
“We’ll be showing kids’ movie Despicable Me, which the adults will love as well. Just bring along a picnic blanket and enjoy a family night out.”
Loughnane said a jumping castle and visit from Santa Claus would complete the picture to make the evening a real family affair.
“We really wanted to build a family environment here and offer a unique entertainment option,” he said.
“An outdoor cinema is the perfect option for the Australian weather and we hope to run it again around the same time next year.
“Kids and parents can come along dressed in their reindeer antlers or Santa hats and enjoy themselves in a safe and beautiful environment.”
The outdoor cinema night will begin 7pm on December 17.
Tickets are $5 for adults and admissions is free for children.
