Selwood, Mackie, Finch all pump Lyons’ mayoral campaign

CATS  skipper Joel Selwood has thrown his weight behind Darryn Lyons’ pitch to become Geelong’s mayor.

Triple premiership defender Andrew Mackie has also thrown his support behind the colourful businessman, the pair of AFL stars taking to Twitter to voice their backing.

“I like people with big vision and willing to get their hands dirty. If that’s you, you get my vote,” said ‘Captain Courageous’ Selwood.

“Wishing you all the best for the mayor election. Some vision is what the town needs. Your the man for the job,” tweeted Mackie.

Lyons’ style also drew praise from former Geelong spearhead Kent Kingsley, who said: “Excited that you are running for Mayor. Exactly what Geelong needs. Let me know how I can help.”

The hotelier’s campaign received another sporting boost from international cricketer Aaron Finch.

“You will have my vote for Mayor of Geelong,” said the Aussie superstar batsman.
