VFL legend Doug Wade kicked a lot of goals for the Cats.
Now he’s helping Red Cross toward a big total for its annual fundraising appeal.
The Australian Football Hall of Fame inductee lent his name to the launch Red Cross Calling at Leopold Lodge retirement village last week.
The campaign will again send Red Cross volunteers across the region seeking donations to help with the organisation’s support work on various community initiatives and issues.
Red Cross confirmed this year’s appeal would again include door-knocks as well as a range of activities, events and public collections.
A spokesperson said Red Cross chose Leopold Lodge for the Geelong region launch to highlight the service’s work with the elderly.
Red Cross volunteers regularly visit nursing homes, while the organisation also runs daily telephone checks on their welfare of elderly people living alone.
