A man has been killed after his car veered off Cape Otway Rd at Moriac and hit a power pole, according to Victoria Police.
Police believe his Holden sedan was travelling east along Cape Otway Road, through the township, when it left the road about 1.40am.
The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene and was yet to be formally identified.
Cape Otway Road between Hendy Main and Church roads remained closed until the accident was cleared about 7am.

So far 243 lives have been lost on the roads, three more than for the same period last year.
