Local art sale to fund child safety program

GEELONG Art Society is putting the art back into Bravehearts with an exhibition fundraiser to protect kids.
The BraveArt exhibition at St Mary’s of the Angels Parish includes more than 50 canvases, sculptures, oils, pastels and water colours.
A percentage of sales will help fund Bravehearts’ education program, teaching Geelong children personal safety through mascot Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show.
Leading Geelong artists Lianne Gough, Lisa Wang, Jacinta Leitch and Tony Bramwell are all exhibiting works.
Geelong Art Society’s Sue Robinson praised the charity.
“Bravehearts does an amazing job at protecting and educating local children,” Ms Robinson aid.
“Imagine displaying a piece of amazing artwork in your home or business and telling friends and family that the purchase helped to fund services for Australian children affected by sexual assault.”
Geelong Bravehearts chair Brian Bull encouraged art lovers to peruse the exhibition to purchase original works of art.
“We rely on the support of the community to continue educating local children about protective behaviours to keep them safe, so it’s great to have the support of the Geelong Art Society and local artists in the area,” he said.
“I urge everyone in the community to head down to the exhibition to not only support local talent but the most precious members of the community – our kids.”
The exhibition will run from 9am to 5pm 10 to 11 May and will include tea, coffee, finger food and a raffle.
Entry is $2 or a donation.
