Young and Crazy in sales rush for Day on the Green

Five thousand tickets sold two days after A Day on the Green announced legendary US performer Neil Young and Crazy Horse would headline next year, the event promoter said.
Michael Newton said the sales were a “fantastic response”.
“It’s such a coup to get an international artist of Neil Young’s stature to play in Geelong and not to force fans to travel to Melbourne,” Newton said.
Young will play on the main stage at Geelong’s The Hill Winery, formerly Pettavel, on March 16.
Australian rock idols Hoodoo Gurus, The Angels, Ross Wilson, Dragon and Boom Crash Opera will share the spotlight during an earlier A Day on the Green concern on February 16.
Hoodoo Gurus will celebrate 30 years since debut single Leilani, with the band to perform classics including What’s My Scene, Bittersweet and 1000 Miles Away.
Dragon’s chart-topping hit Are You Old Enough has had a resurgence through play on 2012 television show Puberty Blues but the Day on the Green audience could expect more classics along with songs from recently released EP Chase the Sun, Newton said.
Sales for a February concert at the same venue were also “strong”, he said.
“We’ve been touring this Oz rock show with the Gurus and The Angels around our wineries this month and the crowds just go nuts.
“They love singing along to all the classic hits. It’s such a good fun show. “
