STATE Labor teed off on the Bellarine Peninsula this week with promises of funding for a golf tournament and a private school.
Leader Daniel Andrews visited 13th Beach Golf Links on Wednesday to pledge $1.4 million for the Victorian Open over four years.
“Labor’s plan is about creating more local jobs, bringing more tourists to the region, attracting more international interest and making the open one of Australia’s leading sport events,” Mr Andrews said.
Yesterday he joined shadow education minister James Merlino to promise $2 million for Drysdale’s St Ignatius College to build a new multi-purpose hall.
“Our Catholic and independent schools are part of our education system and modern facilities are so important for the future of our kids,” Mr Merlino said.
Earlier in the week, Labor’s Bellarine MP, Lisa Neville, pledged $3 million for the second stage of a Leopold Hub project.
Liberal promises this week included $1.1 million to seal 170 gravel car park spaces at South Geelong Railway Station.
