GEELONG athletes have finished Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games with two gold and a pair of bronze medals.
Netballers Madison Robinson and Tegan Caldwell won gold when the Diamonds’ defeated New Zealand by 18 goals on the back of a double lead in the third quarter.
Robinson said on television the games win topped off an incredible year, which included a premiership with Melbourne Vixens and followed twice being left out of Australian international teams.
“It’s amazing to have that gold medal now,” she said.
“It’s been an incredible year. This is most definitely at the top of the list now.”
Ocean Grove bowler Matt Flapper skippered Australia to bronze in the men’s four, defeating India 15-14.
Geelong’s Jake Benstead won bronze in 73kg-class judo last week.
