Crash leaves 18-year-old fighting for life

A teen is fighting for his life in Alfred Hospital following a single-car crash at Drysdale on Sunday morning.

The 18-year-old man was the front-seat passenger in a car which hit a power pole at 1.50am.

Investigators believed another 18-year-old man, who was driving the car south on Carolanne Drive, lost control and hit a power pole at the intersection with Diana Court.

An ambulance helicopter airlifted the front-seat passenger to Alfred Hospital about 3am on Sunday morning with life-threatening injuries, police said.

He remained in a critical condition on Monday, an Alfred Hospital spokesperson said.

The driver received minor injuries and was assisting police with their enquiries.

A second male passenger was uninjured.

Investigators were yet to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash, police said.

Police urged anyone who witnessed the collision or had further information to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
