State, national edge for Geelong Business Excellence Awards

Two category winners at 2017’s Geelong Business Excellence Awards will enter the finals of a “prestigious” state titles, the city’s chamber of commerce has announced.
The chamber said it was “thrilled” to secure a partnership with Australian Institute of Management (AIM) for the winners of the Business Leader and Young Entrepreneur categories.
A win at AIM’s Victorian Leadership Excellence Awards would earn a place at the institute’s national titles.
The chamber described AIM’s program as “the peak national awards program that recognises and celebrates Australia’s most outstanding leaders”.
Chamber chief Bernadette Uzelac, who was on the AIM awards’ 2016 judging panel, was “delighted” with the arrangement.
“For the past three decades the AIM Leadership Excellence Awards have showcased individuals that have made a meaningful impact and contribution to their organisation and community,” she said.
“We’re very fortunate to have many outstanding leaders and entrepreneurs in the Geelong regional business community.
“The chamber looks forward to recognising the 2017 Business Leader of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the business awards presentation dinner in August and I hope to see both winners standing on the stage as the Victorian winners at the AIM Leadership Excellence Awards later this year.”
AIM chief David Pich said the Leadership Excellence Awards had a proud tradition.
“I look forward to seeing Geelong’s finest leader and young entrepreneur representing their great city and business community in the Victorian finals and possibly the national finals,” he said.
Nominations for this year’s Geelong business awards close on Friday at gbea.com.au.
The Indy is a sponsor of the Geelong Business Excellence Awards.
