POLICE are investigating whether a graffiti attack on the home of a Drysdale mother-of-two was linked to her brutal bashing on Sunday night.

The 25-year-old was hanging out washing in her backyard in High Street around 10pm when two hooded men rushed her, beating her to the ground.

The woman, who is now recovering in a “safe house”, managed to text her brother Nathan Sobko, saying: “I need help”.

He arrived at the rear yard and saw her in a distressed state and immediately contacted emergency services.

The victim’s mother Lyn Sobko, said her daughter had sustained severe bruising down one side of the face and was badly traumatised.

“My daughter is very mixed up and very emotional,” Ms Sobko said, as she choked back tears.

“I think I am now looking at everybody in the street, wondering, is it you.”

She said her daughter was now in a safe place.

“She has a massive black eye and it hurts me to see it,” she said.

When asked by The Independent if there had been previous incidents at the property, she said the home had been painted with graffiti about three weeks ago.

Detective Senior Constable Simon Keogh said police were appealing for any witnesses or anybody with any information relating to the bashing.
