Furphy’s a real bottler for brewery

ALE HAVE ONE: Warren Pawsey and Furphy & Sons chief Adam Furphy toast the beer's launch in stubbies.

GEELONG’S new home-grown beer has moved from tap to bottle after launching at Little Creatures’ South Geelong brewery five months ago.
Furphy’s Ale was now available in stubbies after becoming a “local favourite on tap”, said Matt Windsor, a regional executive with Little Creatures owner Lion.
“It’s a beer locals have shown us they love and we’re very happy to be providing a new way for them to enjoy it.”
Furphy head brewer Warren Pawsey said the beer had “its own style, which has proven to be very popular”.
“We worked hard to ensure flavours were perfectly balanced and that no one flavour dominated.”
The ale is named after Shepparton’s Furphy family, who have produced water tanks for over a century.
Furphy water carts supplied Australian soldiers in World War I. Troops gathered around the carts to swap tall stories, which made the Furphy name a word for an embellished or improbable story.
