“I LOVE learning,” declared Corio’s Lia Snelleman as she carefully picked out notes on her folk guitar during her lesson at Cloverdale Community Centre.
Lia was one of 300 people who attended the centre during Adult Learning Week for a variety of special events.
She left her native Holland 30 years ago after living in a crowded four-bedroom house with few job prospects.
“Growing up, I never had the chance to do much schooling. I’m eager to learn because I had to leave school at 15 to go to work to help the family put food on the table,” she explained.
