Geelong couple’s lotto win blitzes Monday blues

A $660,000 lottery win has brightened the start of the working week for a Geelong couple.

The pair was unaware they won first division on Saturday night until they checked their numbers on Monday morning, a TattsLotto official said.

The husband told Tatts he and his wife were thrilled to share the $3.96 million prize with five other winners.

“I didn’t believe it!” he said.

“I had to check it about four or five times. I said to my wife, ‘you’d better check these’.

“She checked them and then said, ‘Did we win?’

“It was a nice get-up for a Monday morning!”

The pair, who Tatts said wanted to remain anonymous, was still reeling from their win the following day.

“We are just trying to calm down a bit,” the husband said.

“We didn’t get much sleep last night. It’s just amazing!”

The pair was working out how to share their big win, the husband said.

“We haven’t worked it out just yet.

The kids will get some, and the grandkids will get some. It will be well-distributed, I think.

“I’ve never had a brand new car, so I’m going get a new car too.”

Manifold Lotto, News & Gifts’ Fiona Jardine was thrilled the outlet had sold its first division-one winner.

“It’s just amazing,” she said

“We’ve only been open two months and we’ve been hoping to sell a division one prize but we are just so overwhelmed it has happened so soon.

“We are so pleased a local to the area and a regular customer won and we hope another one of our customers win again soon.”
