Candidate pledges ‘hoon map’

Labor’s Corio candidate has promised to set up a “hoon map” after identifying St Albans Park as a hotspot for dangerous driving.
Richard Marles said his survey of St Albans Park had found that hoons on Wilsons Road were one of residents’ “major concerns”.
“It’s obviously really dangerous to the families to have speeding cars driving past their houses and there is a lot of noise late at night,” he said.
Mr Marles pledged to set up the “hoon map” on his website for constituents to identify trouble spots.
Residents would be able to phone or email him with information for the website about hoon activity, Mr Marles said.
“This information would be passed on to police and councils to help them focus on the specific areas that need attention.”
Geelong Traffic Management Unit Senior Sergeant Shane Coles said St Albans Park was no more of a hoon hotspot than anywhere else in the city.
