More than 75 per cent of submissions on whether to strip Point Impossible’s clothing-optional status are in favour of the beach staying a haven for nudists, according to Surf Coast Shire.
A spokesperson said 18 out 24 submissions backed nudism at the beach after the shire closed its call for the community to have its say last Friday.
Four wanted the clothing-optional status revoked and two aired environmental concerns for the dunes without stating support or opposition to nudism at the beach.
Last year Surf Coast Shire asked the state Government to remove Point Impossible’s clothing optional status after reports of lewd behaviour at the beach.
Anti-nudism campaigners tied the behaviour to the beach’s clothing-optional status.
The Planning Minister told the shire to run community consultation before deciding whether to push ahead with seeking the change.
