Bikes bungle
Stolen motorcycles have fallen out the back of a trailer at North Shore Railway Station after bumbling crooks burgled a shed in Corio, according to police.
The unknown offenders stole three KTM motorbikes and a bag of motorbike gear from a property on Kingsley Drive before losing two of the bikes at the railway station hours later, police said.

Matchworks expands
A Geelong agency will become “one of Australia’s largest providers of disability employment services” after winning a Federal Government tender.
Matchworks, part of not-for-profit community services provider uGen Karignal St Laurence, said it would operate in 14 new locations around Victoria from 1 July for a total network of 150 sites across Australia.

State Government is stepping up annual bush burn-offs southwest of Geelong as mile autumn weather presents opportunities to manage burning operations.
Forest Fire Management Victoria announced several burns in the Otway district this week, including sites near Lorne and Forrest.

Sleepout here
Local business leaders will sleep under stars at the home of the Cats this winter after St Vincent de Paul launched its first Vinnies CEO Sleepout for regional Victoria.
The society announced the 28 June fundraiser this week, saying each participant sleeping in the stadium would be “challenged” to raise $5000 toward a fundraising target of $200,000.

Flash dancers
Salsa dancers plan a “flashmob” performance in Geelong’s Market Square Shopping Centre this weekend, according to a spokesperson.
Club La Vida Salsa dancers planned to “mysteriously appear and spontaneously form a circle” for their routine at 11am Saturday, said the club’s president.

Storages fall
The region’s water storages have slipped lower after declining another 892 million litres over the past week, according to official figures.
Barwon Water reported that the storages were at 52.6 per cent of capacity this week, about 13 per cent lower than at the same time last year.

Dr Mitchell Anderson broke the 890km record of Slovenia’s Marko Balho to raise money for Craig Perceval Family Trust while also increasing awareness of men’s health issues.
