POLICE have received a ‘large amount of calls’ since releasing mug shots of four men allegedly involved with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old Geelong girl on Sunday.
Two teenage friends had sat in a park on Paramount Crescent after leaving a nearby party in St Albans Park.
The four men, described by the victim as ’really strong, violent and drunk’ and aged in their mid-20s approached the teenagers, police alleged.
One of the men, who was identified as having a large, tribal-like tattoo that stretches across both arms and his chest, “physically assaulted” the 16-year-old boy. The teenager was pushed to the ground and kicked. After pleading for the men to leave them both alone, the boy ran to seek help.
The men then “sexually assaulted the girl in a park“ at around 4am. Police alleged that the girl was carried to a house, which was within walking distance of the park, where another sexual assault took place.
Police found the girl near the park at 5am and she has since undergone a medical examination. After the alleged incident at the house, the girl had knocked on doors for help from nearby residents.
Victoria Police released images of four men they want to question over the incident.
Police described the four as:
1. Aged 25-30, 183cm tall with a solid, muscular build and unshaven. He was bare-chested with tattoos, possibly tribal, along the length of both arms and across the chest. He wore jeans, was possibly barefoot and spoke with an English accent.
2. Mid-20s, 178cm with a bulky build and clean-shaven. He wore a white long-sleeve T-shirt top and black jeans.
3. “Youngish looking”, 173cm with a thick black beard. He wore a black, long-sleeve T-shirt, blue jeans and had an Australian accent.
4. Mid-30s, 184cm, unshaven with a bulky build. He wored a black short-sleeve T-shirt and possibly had an English accent.
Detective Senior Sergeant Jason Walsh said the allegation and incident itself was very concerning for police.
“The sexual assault that occurred was extremely serious. It was horrific. This girl is an obviously really young 14-year-old girl,“ Walsh said.
“We understand that at least three of the men were involved with the sexual assault.“
“She is absolutely devastated and traumatised. She has been very brave and fantastic at helping us fill in the gaps.“
Police have been down to the scene and are conducting an extensive search.
