Local up-and-coming surfers India Robinson and Xavier Huxtable won’t have far to go for their next junior surfing competition.
The Subway Surf Series will be at Jan Juc this weekend, the third in the 10-event series, with 50 promising juniors to compete in both 18 and under and 16 and under girls’ and boys’ divisions.
Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson said the Jan Juc leg was expecting fun conditions this weekend.
“It will be fantastic to see the talent on display. The Subway Surf Series events are really critical in the development of our local junior surfers.
“They get the chance to go up against some of the best competitors from other states and learn from them.
“Now with the Pro Junior events starting next year, this series is set to be the ultimate testing ground for junior surfers looking to make that next step into the WSL Qualifying Series.”
The in-form India Robinson from Jan Juc has just returned from the International Surfing Association World Junior Titles where she placed sixth overall.
Another Jan Juc junior, Xavier Huxtable will be using his local knowledge as he pushes his performance levels at his home break.
The winners of the three non-qualifying events will attend a Subway Surf Camp at the Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre at Casuarina.
