Sea Patrol star finds his voice

TELEVISION star Ian Stenlake will showcase his talent on stage in Leading Man as part of Geelong Performing Arts Centre’s Morning Melodies series.
Stenlake made his name as Commander Mike Flynn over many years in Australian television drama Sea Patrol opposite Lisa McCune but is just as much at home on the stage.
Stenlake’s return to the performing arts centre will featuring him performing many popular songs from his musical theatre career, including Oh, What a Beautiful Morning (Oklahoma), Hey There (The Pajama Game) and I Have Never Been in Love (Guys and Dolls) along with contemporary tunes such as Windmills of Your Mind and You Raise Me Up.
Stenlake’s career began during a trip to Rome where he was convinced to become an extra for a movie being shot in the city. He consequently appeared as a waiter in Godfather III.
Stenlake’s other talents include a strong stage presence and a powerful baritone voice, which he will use to entertain his GPAC Musical Mornings audiences in two performances on 16 to 17 September.
The Musical Mornings series will continue in October when former Geelong resident Maggie Britton returns to The Playhouse with Bandstand and Beyond, celebrating her colourful career in song.
The singer, songwriter and music producer has shared the stage and appeared on television with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, including The Bee Gee’s Robin Gibb, Peter Sellers, Kenny Rogers, Glen Campbell, The Mamas and Papas, The Temptations and The Three Degrees.
