Ladies to show their emotional harmony

The women of Geelong Harmony will hone their melodies in a live Herne Hill concert as they prepare to take on Australia’s best this month.
Baritone Helen Booth said the live show and rehearsal would be the perfect opportunity for the ladies to practise their “showmanship”.
“Your ability to entertain the audience and convey the emotion of the song is very important,” she said.
“Singing in front of live audience is best practice.”
Geelong Harmony members will sing an a cappella line-up for the 2017 Sweet Adelines Australia from 7pm at Western Heights Uniting Church on 15 May.
The group will then fly out to for the national chorus competition in Perth on 20 May while its quartet, Something Else, will also compete on 19 May against 21 other quartets.
Alex Morris, the group’s musical director since 2012, said: “I love taking these talented, beautiful and energetic women to convention.”
“They’ve worked hard this year to grow their musical and performance skills in a bid to take us to the next level of competition.
“And I’m thrilled that four new members, Emily Moriarty, Lanair Hazleton, Emma Love and Pam Brown, are singing with us in this year’s competition.”
The public can see Geelong Harmony’s concert, which includes a first-hand look at members’ warm-up techniques, for a gold coin donation.
“We always give prospective members a warm welcome at our Monday night rehearsals, so if you’re a woman who loves to sing, come along to our sneak peek,” Mr Morris said.
