A record 100 entries from around the state have led to an expanded exhibition for Geelong’s eight annual KarnivART, according to organisers.
The display of works by artists with disabilities would remain at Eastern Hub until 2 June after opening this week, said Karingal St Laurence BacLinks Foundation’s Joanne Forssman.
“This event is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the works of talented artists from right across the state,” she said.
“The entries have been received from independent artists, local art programs and disability organisations. The selection of pieces on display is very impressive.”
Joanne said KarnivART helped community services agency Karingal St Laurence assist people with disabilities or mental illness.
Open to Victorian artists aged over 15, KarnivART entries include photographs, mosaics, paintings, drawings, papier-mache and multi-media pieces.
This week’s opening featured award presentations to artists, based on the judging of Jamie Daddo, Jiri Tibor Novak, Kaz McGlynn and Lisa Sullivan.
