Torquay’s Les Tyack was literally flying “high in the sky” after hearing he was the new president of Surf Coast’s ratepayers association this week.
The news arrived as the 60yearold was flying from Torquay to Bundaberg in his ultralite aeroplane.
However, his preoccupation with flying failed to stop Mr Tyack from looking to the future of Surf Coast Residents and Ratepayers Association.
“I’m looking forward to sitting down with the community and seeing where we go from here,” Mr Tyack said.
“I want to try to get people more interested in what’s happening on the coast. Too many ratepayers just accept what council and government are doing and I think we should have a bit more say in the direction the coast is going.”
The group elected Mr Tyack unanimously after threeyear president Dennis Holloway stepped down.
Mr Holloway, who will move to a farm in King Valley, said he was grateful for the group’s support while at the helm.
