An “overwhelming” response to a public call for help in last week’s Independent has thrilled organisers planning a presentation ball for people with disabilities.
Robyn Bradshaw, of Geleong community services provider Karingal, said donors had offered dozens of dresses and suits for the ball.
Make-up artists, hairdressers, seamstresses, florists and photographers had also pledged support.
“We were surprised and overjoyed by the response,” Ms Bradshaw said.
“We thank everybody who offered support. Participants are really excited about trying on dresses and putting together their outfits.
“I’m really hoping we can make this event a night to remember for everyone.
Women’s service organisation Zonta plans to present about 30 participants in Starry Starry Night to Geelong’s mayor on May 21.
Rehearsals began this week, with participants learning their first steps for the big event.
The Independent is a sponsor of Starry Starry Night.
