Queenscliff to host Easter seafood expo on the pier

Jessica Benton
QUEENSCLIFF will host a world-first seafood expo at Easter, according to an organiser.
Scott Talbot said The Seafood Show would be a world-class exhibition of recreational fishing equipment, technologies and seafood produce.
The exhibition would promote the Australian seafood industry to the world, Mr Talbot said.
“Exhibitors from all over Australasia are involved, including from New Zealand and Vietnam,” he said.
“It’s giving the Australian seafood industry an international perspective and nice marketing and sales opportunities because previously the industry had to travel overseas to market its products.”
Mr Talbot said the event would utilise Queenscliff Pier to be “the only seafood trade show over the ocean”.
The Seafood Show would be on April 2 and 3 and an industry exhibition on April 6 and 7, he said.
The show will begin after Queenscliff’s annual fundraising seafood feast and run in conjunction with Charity Restaurant on the pier.
Charity Restaurant will serve thousands of guests at separate lunch and dinner sittings over six days of fundraising beginning Good Friday.
Each 300-head sitting will donate proceeds to worthy causes including hospitals in Geelong and Melbourne.
The Independent will host one of the dinners, with its donation set for children’s charity Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia.
The Independent’s Charity Restaurant night for Starlight Children’s Foundation will be on April 7.
Tax-deductible tickets for the night or other Charity Restaurant sittings are available at www.charityrestaurant.com.au
