GEELONG mayor Darryn Lyons has thrown his support behind the Do It In A Dress campaign to help raise awareness to educate girls in Sierra Leone.
“By putting on a dress it gets the message out there that girls in Sierra Leone need help in receiving an education,” said Cr Lyons.
“The numbers are staggering, 66 million girls around the world don’t have an education and we can help reduce those numbers by donating to Do It In A Dress.
“One in five girls in developing countries enrols in primary school but they never finish and it’s important to give young children the best start in life through an education.”
Cr Lyons said that dressing up for Do It In A Dress campaign was a bit of fun and he hoped people visited the website featuring personal items from Oprah up for auction. Visit doitinadress.com.
