Help Salvos, says number one Cat

THE Cats’ number-one ticket holder is helping urge Geelong residents to support The Salvation Army’s annual appeal.
Daryl Somers has added his star power to the Red Shield Appeal as it seeks extra volunteers to door-knock for donations in the region.
The Salvos’ Dr Bruce Redman said the charity faced a “big need” for volunteers this year as demand for welfare support increased.
“We are seeing working mums and dads coming to our door desperately needing our help,” he said.
“All too often they have to choose whether to pay bills of buy food for their families. It’s for this reason we urge people to give up a small amount of time to lend a hand and to help make a world of difference.”
Dr Redman said the Salvos hoped to mobilise 100,000 volunteers across Australia for this year’s appeal on 25 and 25 May.
He said more information about volunteering was available by phoning 13 72 58 or visiting salvationarmy.org.au.
