Funds to clean up Whittington

A community renewal program will give Whittington residents more control over the care and development of their suburb.
Premier Steve Bracks announced $630,000 over three years for the program during a visit to Whittington Primary School yesterday.
Mr Bracks said the program aimed to revitalise Whittington for its 4000 residents.
They had already nominated safety in streets and parks and opportunities for employment, training and education as targets for the program.
“Community renewal is about positive change to transform neighbourhoods doing it tough,” Mr Bracks said.
Member for Bellarine Lisa Neville joined Mr Bracks to launch the program.
She said it would lead to “immediate improvements” from painting and cleaning programs.
