Night works mean delays for some

Bridge and maintenance works on the Geelong Ring Road will create short delays for motorists at night this month.
VicRoads will close Colac-bound lanes between 9pm to 5am from 7 to 13 February, and Melbourne-bound lanes at the same time from 14 to 23 February.
The works will include asphalt repairs to the bridge approaches and departures, weed removal, new line marking and general maintenance.
VicRoads regional director Mark Koliba said the works would keep the road safe and reliable.
“Given the importance of the Ring Road to our local community, businesses and the region’s economy, these works have been carefully planned to minimise disruption.”
“Night works enable us to get a lot of work done in a short time, which means we can give the freeway back to the community as soon as possible.”
More than 11,000 drivers use the road every day including 2000 trucks, Mr Koliba said.
The detour route will follow the old Princes Highway (Colac Road) before rejoining the Geelong Ring Road. A map is available on the VicRoads website.
South Western Alliance, a partnership between VicRoads and Fulton Hogan, will deliver the works.
