ORLANDA and Shaun are kids on a mission: to run faster than Thomas the Tank Engine.
The two enthusiastic runners will join hundreds of children from across the region to try outrunning Thomas during a Rotary Kids Fun Run on March 11.
Rotary Club of Highton Kardinia’s annual fun day features eight age-based runs against the tank engine for children aged between two and 12.
Organisers said proceeds would go to Kids Plus Foundation for its ongoing therapy program helping children with cerebral palsy and other brain injuries.
Five-year-old Shaun, a cerebral palsy sufferer, has been having regular therapy at Kids Plus on his leg, hand and arm since he was two. He will run against Thomas for the fourth time this year.
Seven-year-old Orlanda said she was looking forward to her first run against Thomas.
The organisers said the event was open to children of all abilities.
“Registration is limited to 700 runners and must be made before the event.”
