Time for seniors to have their moment

FACES in the street – giant faces five metres square – will soon be gracing Geelong’s buildings as part of a special City Hall seniors celebrations.
Not just any faces, either, but 10 publically-selected visages of Geelong over-55s most worthy of recognition.
The Faces of a Generation project is part of this year Seniors Festival and will follow the theme ‘celebrating community’..
“The over -55s contribute a lot to this city and deserve recognition,” Geelong mayor Darryn Lyons said.
“Many of them combine extensive volunteering with family and work commitments, and their dedication and work ethic is very impressive.
“Faces of a Generation is a great opportunity for us to celebrate these role models, so get nominating.”
The Seniors Festival showcases seniors contributing to community life. It provides clubs and groups a chance to promote their activities, increasing socialisation, participation and activity.
Nominations close midday Monday 6 July.
