Police give chase … twice

Police have arrested a man following two car pursuits through Geelong in one hour this afternoon.
Officers attended a Paraparap address following reports of a burglary, where a white Corolla with no number plates left the property, witnesses alleged.
Police came across the car on Townsend Road, Whittington, about 1pm and initiated pursuit.
The man allegedly dumped the car on Thenton Street in St Albans Park and fled over several fences with police on his trail.
He stole a black Holden Cruz from the backyard of a nearby residence and drove off, police alleged.
Police continued to pursue the man who allegedly dumped the vehicle in Emerald Street, Belmont, and again fled on foot.
They arrested him in nearby Thomas Street about 1.45pm. He remained in custody and was assisting police with their inquiries.
Police appealed for anyone who witnessed either car driving through Geelong to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www crimestoppersvic.com.au
