PLANS for a new $5.5 pavilion to house the Ocean Grove Football and Netball Club, Surfside Waves Soccer Club and Ocean Grove Cricket Club have been released.
Work on the long-awaited project, in Shell Road, is expected to start before the end of the year.
Twenty years in the making, the new pavilion’s design was based on an Ocean Grove sporting infrastructure plan worked up between Geelong City Hall and local sporting groups.
It will incorporate:
- Four B class football (soccer) change rooms
- Two local level football (AFL)/cricket change rooms
- Two local football and netball league netball change rooms
- Store rooms for each respective sport
- Sports store
- First aid room
- Two umpire/official change rooms
- Two kiosks
- Commercial kitchen
- Social space
- Administration/meeting space
Total construction is expected to cost $5.5 million plus landscaping, car parking and other contingencies.
The design was announced jointly by Corangamite MHR Sarah Henderson and city councillor Jan Farrell. The Federal Government will stump up $3 million toward the pavilion.
