Geelong will be the first recipient of a Pathways in Technology Early College High (P-Tech) School, Prime Minister Tony Abbott confirmed while visiting the region this week.
The Independent reported last October that Geelong would host Australia’s first P-Tech, involving big business and industry in the delivery of the school’s curriculum.
The P-Tech program has been allocated $500,000 in seed funding.
Mr Abbott said he was working with State Government and its education department as the manager of public schools in Victoria.
“My understanding is that those discussions are going well and we’ll have an announcement to make in the not too distant future.
“And, yes, the first of the P-Tech schools will be here in the Geelong area.”
