Cats primed for Hawthorn blockbuster

By John Van Klaveren

FOOTY’S back – but Geelong fans will have to wait the entire long weekend before getting a pointer on the Cats fortunes this season.
Cats coach Chris Scott said everyone at the club was excited to get the season underway when Geelong plays its Easter Monday blockbuster against Hawthorn.
“`Hawthorn are quite rightly being talked about as the premiership favourites, their NAB three game was spectacular, they have good availability with their players and they are coming off a premiership.
“They should be feeling pretty warm and fuzzy, I would have thought.
“It’s been a long build up with the cricket world cup and most teams would feel like they’re pretty well prepared.
“If they’re not they wouldn’t have too many excuses.”
Geelong faces further hefty games to open the season against last year’s finalists in Fremantle, North Melbourne and Richmond, with a game against the rising Suns thrown in.
The good news is that three of the first five games are at home – and MCG is like a second home for the Cats.
