A MAN bashed unconscious with a metal bar in Geelong had seven stitches applied to a “large laceration” on his head, according to police.
Geelong detectives have appleaed for information over the alleged assault on the 27-year-old Clifton Springs man in the early hours of November 27.
Police said three men apparently aged 18 to 20 attacked him under James Harrison Bridge as he walked toward Belmont.
One was armed with the bar and another claimed to have a firearm.
Police said the group hit the alleged victim over the head and body, with the attack also requiring a further three stitches to an arm.
The man also suffered “severe bruising to his face, forearms and upper body”.
Police said the man regained consciousness to discover his wallet and iPhone were stolen.
He sought help at a nearby supermarket where staff called an ambulance.
