The artists of Anglesea are inviting visitors to witness their talent at the town’s annual art show over the Queen’s Birthday weekend.
The 32nd Anglesea Art and Craft Show will feature more than 70 artists, said exhibition co-ordinator Pat McKenzie.
“There is more to Anglesea than its water views. It’s the art – and (Queens Birthday) weekend it’s on show. Don’t miss it.”
“The show is not only an opportunity to see artwork on display, but also see artists ply their style with drawing and watercolour demonstrations.”
This year Bellbrae artist Catherine Brennan will judge the show’s multitude of categories, including a new “Indulgence” Award.
“It is an opportunity to recognize the great work artists do to make this town vibrant,” she said.
All artwork is for sale as well as jewellery, glass, pottery, mosaics, felting, photographs and hand-crafted cards.
“Most locals will proudly purchase their favourite local art piece to display at home,” Ms Brennan said.
“Visitors can walk away with a souvenir that not only support local artists but is authentic, local and beautiful.”
But Mr McKenzie said the most coveted prize was the People’s Choice Award.
“We want visitors and locals, young and young at heart, to visit, enjoy and vote,” he said.
Mr McKenzie said Surf Coast Mayor Brian McKiterick, “a passionate supporter of local artists”, will open this year’s show at 7pm on 9 June.
The show runs at Anglesea Community Hall from 10 to 12 June.
