Zoe’s Short Cutz to exposure for local filmmakers

By JOHN VAN KLAVEREN

A GEELONG filmmaker is forging her own entry into the industry with a short-film festival.

Zoe Hollingsworth’s Short Cutz will be televised as a six-part series on Channel 31 in September.

The festival was a rare opportunity for local filmmakers to gain exposure, she said.

“I gave myself the challenge because I don’t like being bored and want to get into the media industry. Something like this will get me that experience,” Ms Hollingsworth explained.

“I know that short filmmakers need a way of showing their work because it’s difficult to find a platform for films, so I thought I would cast a wide net with a minimum of criteria. I’m looking for films under 10 minutes

“They don’t have to be films created especially for this festival.

“I hope we’ll unearth some gems and give them a fresh airing.”

Ms Hollingsworth said she would put together a judging panel of local filmmakers and include a public vote for the winner.

Categories included best film, director and story, she said.

Ms Hollingsworth had five films lined up so far but said the only limit to the number of entries to feature in the series would be the amount of airtime available.

Entries close on 28 May at the Facebook page of Ms Hollingsworth’s Zeeduchess Studios.
