Geelong coach Chris Scott has foreshadowed the debuts of Nakia Cockatoo and Cory Gregson in the heat of the Easter Monday blockbuster against Hawthorn.
He confirmed the two new boys were “well and truly in the frame” for inclusion in the Cat’s squad for the big game.
“We have a record of showing faith in our younger players,” Scott said.
“It would be exciting to have a couple debutants for round one.
“If that means we promote young players when it’s a 50-50 decision, we’ll absolutely do it.”
Scott said the club had more options this season.
“We have strengths we didn’t have last year,” he said. “We have more depth with our ruckmen.”
“Our game will change a little bit and it means we will be a bit less predictable for the opposition.
“We always try to maximise the individual strengths of our players, and after that make sure they play within the system.”
