Eda a natural for our Star Search

A natural talent will be among young hopefuls striving to start their careers in music at Geelong’s Star Search talent quest this year.
Eda Kaynak’s musical career began at the tender age of three when her father heard she could sing with perfect pitch and distinguish individual notes.
After beginning piano lessons at seven, Eda has since gone on to explore a range of musical styles including classical, modern and jazz.
Eda, who competed in last year’s Powercor Star Search, is fine tuning a new repertoire for this year’s competition.
“Since last year’s Star Search I’ve been mastering new techniques as well as learning new compositions to expand my repertoire,” she said.
The region’s best young vocalists and instrumentalists will audition for Star Search on May 4 and 11 for the chance to perform in the grand final at Deakin University’s Costa Hall on Saturday May 29.
Vocalists and instrumentalists will compete for a prize pool in each category of $1800, with the winner taking home $1000.
Organisers are urging family and friends to be in the audience so they can cheer on their favourites.
The organisers said online entry forms, information and ticket sales are available at www.starsearch.net.au.
More information was available by emaling powercorstarsearch@gmail.com.
Tickets cost $20, $15 for concession card holders and $55 for families.
The Independent is a sponsor of Rotary Club of Highton’s Star Search.
